History: Established in 1853, Carl Bechstein began manufacturing pianos under his own name in Berlin. The company persisted through two world wars, many economic challenges, and has emerged as one of the more significant piano manufacturers in history. Today Bechstein operates under the lines of C. Bechstein Concert for their highest concert level pianos, C.Bechstein Residence, the highest level of uprights, C.Bechstein Academy, a streamlined, more cost effective version of the Concert & Residence series, W.Hoffmann, manufactured at Bechstein Europe factory and Zimmermann, an entry level series. Concert, Residence and Academy lines are all made in Germany while Hoffmann is made in the Czech Republic and Zimmermann is made in China.
